Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky believes that it is necessary to support private museums

In Russia, it is necessary to create a mechanism favorable for social business, in particular for private museums that will allow them to develop, benefits from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation already apply equally to state and non-state museums, Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“We have a large grant program. But, in addition to the grant, the most important thing is not to interfere with their development. A mechanism conducive to social business should be created. A private museum always seeks to cover the expenditure of at least its management. A man gives his time, soul, sacrifices his collection. Of course, he wants this business to somehow develop without permanent subsidization for support. This is mainly a question for the local authorities and our financial legislation, ”the minister said.

He stressed that the ministry has done everything possible in terms of the equation of rights of private and state museums. “All the benefits that apply to state museums are equally relevant to the non-state ones,” Medinsky said.
