Nowadays the art fund is one of the largest private collections of world cultural significance, containing about 20,000 exhibits. The collection is based on self-playing musical instruments and mechanical rarities, including music boxes, organs, orchestrions, barrel organs, mechanical pianos and grand pianos, gramophones and phonographs, accordions, clocks and automatons. The museum collections also include decorative and applied arts, paintings and graphics, and an extensive collection of Russian bronze, including small plastic works by the best masters of the 19th-20th centuries, as well as a collection of old Russian and foreign silver, glass and crystal. The absolute pride of the Art Collections Museum is a unique collection of rare sound: more than 20,000 different music media. The museum presents almost all types of sound media of the past, including paper rolls on which musical works were applied by perforation, wax rollers for phonographs, gramophone records from the early twentieth century made of shellac, perforated paper discs, metal discs, and more modern vinyl records. In addition to the permanent exhibition, lectures, thematic excursions, musical evenings and various educational programs are held on site at the museum. At the moment, the work of adding to and developing the museum’s website is being executed, and in the future there will be a separate interactive platform for collectors and a forum for art restorers.
