About museum

The museum was opened on the territory of the old pier in the city of Kalyazin on 07/29/2018, and it is located on a hiking trail. The exposition reveals the secrets of the city under water and talks about the relationship of Kalyazin with the Volga trade route. The museum presents the life of the local residents, the Volga river boat workers, the fates of the people who were in the flood zone, models of the old city and naval vessels of the 20th century. The museum’s collection is represented by professional riverboat items and equipment pieces from the Volga ships. A reconstruction was made of a river station buffet from the 1950s.

The collection contains household items and items of the professional activities of the Volga residents, crafts and trades of the Tver province, models of the city and the Volga ships, photographs and posters.

Workshops: the tying of river knots, mooring a ship, assembling an electric circuit “Lighting the city together”, shadow theater “Drawing with light and shadow”, making origami “Ship of my dreams”, and making candles from wax.
