Affected By a Pandemic: Museum Workers Commented on the Situation Related to the Closure of Private Museums

On July 10, the Pushkin Museum returned offline, which means it could be considered that Moscow would return to a “normal” cultural life, except for one “but”: while state museums open their doors one by one, many private galleries and exhibition halls remain closed – and will forever be.

There is only one reason for that: inability to pay rent.

The Head of the Association of Private Museums of Russia Aleksey Shaburov and the leaders of the Museum of Iron, the Tsar’s Closet Museum, the Club Museum “Masks and Figures of the World” and the Gingerbread Museum commented on the situation related to the closure of private museums.
