Competition of museum programmes for children with special mental needs

The “Inclusive Museum” project launches submissions for a grants competition.

The competition is sponsored by the Russian committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Russia) in partnership with social project “Koleso Obozreniya,” and Sberbank charitable foundation “Investment to the Future.”

The competition is designed to facilitate new and existing inclusive museum programmes for children with special mental needs, as well as to promote inclusive projects within the professional community and the wider public. Russian museums are eligible to take part in the competition, no previous experience of holding similar events is required.

Submissions will be accepted until February 20, 2020 (23:59 Moscow time). One prerequisite all contestants have to follow is to join the “Museum for all” event, which is scheduled for April 18-19, 2020.

Competition nominations

  • “Inclusive start” for museums with no previous experience of having regular inclusive events.
  • “Inclusive development” for museums offering a new or the improvement / radical reinterpretation of an existing inclusive museum programme.

Competition winners will be provided with financial support amounting to 200,000 RUB to facilitate the implementation of inclusive programmes in 2020/2021 for children with special mental needs.
