Expedition to private museums in Russia starts on May 14

The expedition route will go through several Russian regions. A team of 6 people on 2 loaded Toyota Land Cruiser 200 will find the most interesting, sometimes mysterious museums in the Russian outback, some of which are in remote places. Most of the route will go off-road, for that the cars have been equipped with everything necessary – additional batteries, compressors, “toothy” tires and all kinds of locks.

In our country, there is a popular expression that Russia has poor roads and a lot of fools. The director of the Association of Private Museums Alexey Shaburov, who is the ideological inspirer and sponsor of the expedition, is not afraid to refute it, because the main motto of the expedition is: “There are no roads in the Russian outback, but there are a lot of talented and interesting people.” The purpose of the expedition is precisely the search for real gold nuggets that make museums by their own hands, having, at times, the most incredible exhibits. To visit many of these museums, the expedition team will have to overcome serious impassability. On the way, the team will visit several unique museums, including the Kovrov Motorcycle Museum, the Dumnov factory owner’s house in Kirzhach, the Cheese Museum and the Museum of Gypsy Culture and Lifestyle in Kostroma, the Radio Museum in Pereslavl-Zalessky, the Soviet Automobile Industry Museum in Ivanovo, the Museum of Enamel Art “Emalis”and the Vadim Orlov Museum in Yaroslavl, several museums in the Yaroslavl Region – a money museum in the village of Vaskovo, a printing museum in the village of Vyatskoye, the Tolbukhino museum association and many others.

During the expedition, professional cameramen will shoot unique video material that will form the basis of the film “Private Museums of Russia. Gold nuggets of Russia ”, which tells about the dedicated and enthusiastic owners of private museums in Russia, creating interesting museums in their homeland and about their favorite, albeit difficult, business. The premiere of the film will take place on the first day of the exhibition “Private Museums of Russia. Gold nuggets of Russia ”, which will be held from September 7 to 8, 2019 in Pavilion 4.1 of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center.
