Nizhny Novgorod Museum of the Cold War and the History of the city of Gorky in 1946-1991

Dear friends, members of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian volunteer social movement “Volunteer Squadron of the Combat Brotherhood” visited our museum.

We gave our guests a tour of all the exhibitions in the museum as well as the exhibitions of our colleagues from the Prioksky District History Museum, told them all about the history of the Cold War, the secrets of our city during the “closed” period, many old and new exhibits; we also gave them a mini-lecture on the discovery of radioactivity and performed experiments with dosimetry equipment and uranium glass.

By the way, it was our regular guest radiologist Alexander Sergeevich Kazansky who had advised the volunteers to visit the museum. He has repeatedly visited our exhibitions, and as an experienced professional radiologist, he was fascinated to learn about the history of the Soviet atomic project, the contribution that our city had made to the creation of the Russian nuclear shield, the rise of nuclear power, and see our large collection of radiometric devices.

Today’s guests also saw for the first time new exhibitions dedicated to Soviet life.

According to the guests, they very much enjoyed the tour and the museum, we plan to cooperate in the field of youth military-patriotic upbringing in the future.
