Private Museum Tours in Moscow Region: Meet the Museum Gallery of Nadezhda Strelkina

The idea to create a museum gallery came to the hereditary artist of the Fedoskino and Zhostovo crafts Nadezhda Strelkina, when in 2012 she received a letter with the following text: “Hello, Nadezhda. We are a California travel agency. We take VIP clients around the Golden Ring of Russia and we would like to visit your studio.”

Two years later, on October 12, 2014, the Fairy World Museum Gallery was opened, and now tourists from all over the world can come to the artist to see her lacquer miniatures. The stuff of the Association of Private Museums also decided to visit her.

The art of Nadezhda Strelkina gained worldwide recognition in 1997, when she was awarded with the Crystal Cup “Best Artist of the Year” by the largest American souvenir company The Bradford Exchange for a series of works in the fantasy genre “Melody of Angels”.

Konstantin Strelkin, director of the museum, tells about the background of this event: “In 1995, in honor of the 200th anniversary of Fedoskino craft, a catalog was published, which included several works by Nadezhda Strelkina. One of them, a miniature called “Day and Night”, which included a plot that was unconventional for Fedoskino, representing images of day and night in female guises, caught the eye of a Russian lady who lives in the USA and is a professional art agent. She found Nadezhda and offered her cooperation. Then the art agent showed several works of the artist at one of the exhibitions in Los Angeles. The manager of the largest souvenir company The Bradford Exchange became interested in them. As a result, Nadezhda was commissioned to make a series of scenes with angels. The series became known all over America. In 1997, souvenirs with Nadezhda’s stories became the best-selling souvenirs in the United States. Since then, Nadezhda Strelkina has been called one of the world’s leading artists of the fantasy genre.”
