The Russian gusli and Chinese guqin museum held the first online lesson on playing the gusli in support of the fight against coronavirus

On the 8th of April the first introductory online lesson on how to play the gusli was held. The audience learned more about the types of gusli, its  structure, differences, as well as cultural and historical aspect of the art of playing this musical instrument. Interesting questions were asked about the new archaeological finds of gusli, about the use of gusli in religious practice, about the testimonies of foreign travelers and their descriptions of the game on gusli among the Slavs. The webinar turned out to be international: participants from Ukraine and the USA also joined us.

The next webinar within the online course will be held on the 10th of April at 15:00 by Moscow time. During this course  we will touch on  the following issues: setting of the instrument, tuning, modal diversity and anhemitonic scale.
