World renowned fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev joined the Supervisory Board of the Association of Private Museums of Russia

On December 2, 2020, the director of the Association of Private Museums of Russia Semyon Zhiltsov met with the famous fashion historian, interior decorator, set designer, TV presenter, author of popular books and articles, consummate lecturer and collector Alexander Alexandrovich Vasilyev. The meeting took place at the Moscow Museum of Animation. During it, Alexander Vasiliev decided to join the supervisory board of the Association.

Alexander Vasiliev is the owner of the largest collection of items related to the history of costume and fashion. In its collection there are more than 65 thousand exhibits: paintings, photographs, costumes that belonged in the past to Princess Maria Shcherbatova, Baroness Galina Delvig, Countess Jacqueline de Bogurdon, Countess Olga von Kreutz, Coco Chanel, Lyudmila Gurchenko, Irina Ponarovskaya, Alla Demidova, Natalya Durova, Lyudmila Zykina, Olga Lepeshinskaya, Lyubov Orlova, Lydia Smirnova, Galina Ulanova, Natalya Fateeva, Clara Luchko, Maya Plisetskaya.

“I hope that private museums in Russia will develop, improve their expositions and always bring joy to visitors and all people who love Russian history and the collectors themselves,” said the fashion historian.
Alexander Vasiliev also accepted the offer of Semyon Zhiltsov to become a participant in the public hearings “Culture in a pandemic: support for private theaters and museums”, which will be held at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on December 4, 2020.
